I had always wanted a sport bike since one of my brothers had one back in the 1980s.
One of my old neighbors had the CBR sitting in his garage, not running for a year so I asked him about it. He said that it didn’t run and he wasn’t sure why so I asked him if he’d sell it and he said, “yes”.
I traded him a computer monitor for it and then spent the next few months rebuilding the bike. I learned a lot taking the motor apart and rebuilding it and with some help from a friend who is a motorcycle mechanic it ran again…and ran well!
Unfortunately a few years later I was in an accident in downtown Phoenix and ended up selling it and taking some years off. I then purchased the V-Strom so I could get off-road and away from city traffic (as much as possible).
Some photos on my brother’s old Yamaha FJ600 back in the mid 1980s.

Here are some photos of the CBR after the rebuild. It certainly wasn’t perfect, but it ran well and was a lot of fun!

I put a new (used) pipe on it as well and it looked much better than stock.
